Weekly Photo Challenge: Relic

Haarlemmerliede en Spaarnwoude

A prominent landmark is the church of Spaarnwoude “The Stompe Toren”. The tower dates from the 13th century. During the siege of Haarlem, in 1573, the village was set on fire by the Spaniards, the tower remained unchanged. In 1764 the present church was built against the tower. Near the church, my father was born.
